The blade is lab-tested for hardness, measuring HRC 58-60.

Damascus is true, layered and rolled, and not the faux etched variety. Damascus is a mixture of 1095HC and 15N20 nickel carbon that are heated together, then folded over and over to get the desired layers, this knife has 396 layers. It's then burned in acid to bring out the depth of the layers and gorgeous nickel satin color. The high carbon patterning turns blackish gray exposing the layers of new steel, called "Damascus". Only after you burn the sides of the blade with acid do you see the layers of the two steels. These are artisan crafted by a long line of expert Damascus Steel masters.

Once the blade is crafted, the item is brought to the USA, where handles are attached, polished and an edge is put on the blade.
