Rain Dance Southwestern Wool Tote | Yellowstone Spirit Southwestern Collection

Named in honor of the Native American tradition among tribes in the Southwest, and wherever drought is common, the Rain Dance brings both men and women to this zig-zag stepped dance where moccasins become the primary beat, representing the pitter-patter of the rain.  Ritual costumes include turquoise, representing the rain, while feathers represent the wind.

In an early type of meteorology, Native Americans in the midwestern parts of modern United States often tracked and followed known weather patterns. They would do a rain dance for settlers in return for trade items. This is best known to happen among Osage and Quapaw Indian tribes of Missouri and Arkansas.

The gift of rain is like a blessing, the gift of snow a promise.

With it's white rain drops from the turquoise sky, and four corners of God's Eyes to protect you on wherever your path may lead.
