Being misunderstood, and mistaken for another woman in one's own life is hard enough.  Mary Magdalene's name, has undergone those preoccupations in her life after death...so we have come to find.  In fact, the sinner, adulteress and prostitute she is often mistaken for was actually a wealthy merchant's daughter, whose name was Mary of Bethany.  She is said to have taken care of not only the great man's physical needs, but supported him financially and spiritually, following him as a disciple and a Messiah in her own right.  It is said that Jesus listened carefully to her views, that she was wise and not only a very dear companion to him, but was likely his wife.  Mary Magdalene is considered a saint.

With Magdalena's Star, we honor this remarkable woman and the wise woman in us all.  July 22nd is celebrated as feast day in her honor. The Orthodox church even celebrates a day in her name called, Sunday of the Myrrh-bearers, the second Sunday after Easter.  If you've never tried it, Myrrh is a lovely resin to burn as incense.

A Star Worth Sharing

The Magdelnas Star Was even more beautiful than I expected. Fit my cousin better than me though (thanks Andrea for calling me to review the size- turns out I need a larger one) so I gifted it to her. She loved the piece as well as the story it comes with. Looks like I will have to buy another one!

Yay! Hope you both love them Gabrielle!
